Congressman Garret Graves and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise have introduced legislation to include Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, in the Delta Regional Authority (DRA). The DRA is a federal agency focused on economic development and community resilience in the Delta Region of the United States. Congressman Graves serves as a senior member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, which oversees this program.

"Terrebonne Parish is already a great place to live, work and raise a family. That’s why we’ve busted our tail to get record funding for the Morganza to the Gulf project to protect Terrebonne and fight every day to secure federal hurricane disaster funds [link press release we issue today] to rebuild Terrebonne. Adding Terrebonne Parish as a member of the Delta Regional Authority means parish elected and economic leaders can take the reins and grow jobs and the economy for Terrebonne’s future," said Graves.

The Delta Regional Authority was established in 2000 as a partnership between eight states along the Lower Mississippi River and the federal government. Its goal is to enhance quality of life and economic opportunities in the Mississippi River Delta. Including Terrebonne in this authority aims to boost federal investment in areas such as workforce training, healthcare access, and job creation in South Louisiana. In recent years, the DRA has supported 73 projects across Louisiana, leading to over 2,364 new jobs and benefiting more than 60,000 residents.

Graves and Scalise currently represent Terrebonne Parish in Congress.
