Baton Rouge, La – City-Parish offices will reopen Wednesday, January 17, with the exception of EBR Head Start centers. Garbage, trash and recycling services will also resume.

DPW spent the day salting bridges, and all City-Parish roads are open. Motorists are still urged to drive carefully during their morning commute.

Freezing temperatures are forecasted overnight and into the morning hours. The Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness will stay in communication with homeless shelters to respond to any capacity needs. Anyone needing a warm place during the day is encouraged to visit their local EBR Library Branch.

Residents are urged to continue practicing fire and carbon monoxide safety. Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, be careful when using space heaters or fireplaces, and don’t use stoves or ovens for heating.

Remember during freezing temperatures to protect people, pets, pipes and plants. Residents should dress warmly and limit their time outside.
