Baton Rouge, La. – Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome issued the following statement about the passing of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor:

"Baton Rouge mourns the passing of Sandra Day O'Connor, a trailblazer and an icon of justice. As the first woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice O'Connor carved a path for women in law and leadership, demonstrating unwavering dedication and integrity. Her legacy is a testament to the power of breaking barriers and setting new precedents.

"Today, we honor her memory and her contributions to our nation. Her wisdom, strength, and courage will continue to inspire future generations of women leaders. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and all who were touched by her life."
