Lower student enrollment in West Feliciana Parish School District schools, following the state’s numbers

The only school district in West Feliciana Parish suffered declining enrollment in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 2,185 students in the halls of West Feliciana Parish School District schools, 0.5% lower than the year before.

Enrollment in West Feliciana Parish was steady compared to the state’s trend of decreasing enrollment.

Out of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.6% of them were boys, and 49.4% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 59% of the West Feliciana Parish School Districts total enrollment.

West Feliciana Parish School District has a main office in St. Francisville and is the only school district within West Feliciana Parish.

Only 22% of Louisiana’s teachers are Black or Latino, compared to about 48% of the state's K–12 students who identify as either race.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students in Louisiana, which is worse than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.
