Southern University Lab School District welcomed 703 students in 2021-22 school year

There were 703 students enrolled in Southern University Lab School District schools in the 2021-22 school year, 1.4% more than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.4% of them were boys, and 49.6% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were Black or African American, representing 77.2% of the Southern University Lab School District total enrollment.

Southern University Lab School District covers approximately two schools within East Baton Rouge Parish, with its main office in Baton Rouge.

Among the two schools in Southern University Lab School District, Southern University Lab School recorded the highest enrollment of 376 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The majority of Louisiana students were identified as white and Black, representing 48% and 37% of the state student body respectively during the 2021-22 academic year. Hispanic students made up 8.6% of the student body, and other ethnic minorities made up 5.6%.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students, compared to the national average of 1:16.
