LSU women’s basketball guards Mikaylah Williams and Izzy Besselman were named to the 2025-26 Winter Southeastern Conference (SEC) Academic Honor Roll, according to an April 15 announcement. They are among a total of 769 student-athletes recognized throughout the league, including 36 from four LSU programs.
The SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll acknowledges student-athletes in basketball, equestrian, gymnastics, and swimming & diving based on their academic performance during the Spring, Summer, and Fall terms of 2025. To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must participate in a Southeastern Conference championship sport or be listed on their institution’s NCAA Sports Sponsorship Form.
Criteria for selection include maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.00 either for the preceding academic year or cumulatively at the nominating institution. Graduate students must also meet this GPA requirement based solely on graduate coursework. Additional requirements specify that summer school grades are included in eligibility calculations and that both scholarship recipients and non-scholarship varsity athletes who have been with their teams for two seasons can qualify.
Student-athletes must also complete specific credit hour thresholds—24 semester or 36 quarter hours toward an undergraduate degree or 18 semester or 27 quarter hours toward a graduate degree—to be considered. Additionally, they must have participated as members of their varsity teams throughout the entire NCAA Championship segment for their sport.
This recognition highlights both athletic participation and academic achievement among SEC student-athletes.
