Baton Rouge, La. (February 23, 2023) – The Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) today announced updates to staff, including a promotion and two new hires.
“BRAC has set big goals for itself to achieve by 2026, and we need a committed team to do so,” said Adam Knapp, BRAC president & CEO. “Each one of these individuals brings a unique skillset to BRAC, and one that is sure to help us move the needle on our strategic plan. We welcome them to the team and look forward to their contributions!”
Morgan Almeida has been promoted to the organization’s Senior Director of Communications. Almeida has worked at BRAC for five years serving in various roles in the organization’s marketing department. In this role, Almeida will lead BRAC’s communications team, developing and overseeing BRAC’s public relations strategies, and promoting awareness of BRAC and the BRING IT! strategic plan initiatives locally and nationally. In her tenure at BRAC, Almeida has assisted with launching a variety of initiatives, serving as a key business communicator during the beginning of the pandemic, and supporting communications strategies around key BRAC priorities like BR Works, Handshake, infrastructure improvements, crime reduction, industry diversification, and more.
Britt Bowker joins BRAC’s Business Development team as the Director of Recruitment. In this role, Bowker will work collaboratively with State and parish partners to lead and manage recruitment efforts in the Capital Region through the identification of new project opportunities. She will also lead BRAC’s efforts within the H2theFuture Coalition, specifically working on the H2BD project, which will focus on business attraction, retention, and expansion to recruit and grow clean energy companies in South Louisiana. Bowker has over 15 years in business development and recruitment experience in the healthcare and financial services industries. Prior to joining BRAC, Bowker held multiple executive-level roles at Our Lady of the Lake and Assurance Financial and was instrumental in the development of sales programs, talent acquisition processes and expansion, and drove major account growth.
Kary Pope joins the team as Executive Assistant to the President and CEO. In this role, Pope provides executive support for all the activities of the CEO, Executive Vice President, as well as the Board of Directors of BRAC. Before joining BRAC, Pope served as the Executive Assistant to the CEO and Owner/Founder and served as the Operations Manager for an e-commerce company located in Baton Rouge. She has worked as an executive assistant and project assistant with various local and national engineering firms since her arrival in Baton Rouge in 2005.
