Business Report

BR Works, the online job portal launched by the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, has garnered 81,500 page views and 13,900 users since it went live one year ago, BRAC announced this morning.

Maggi Spurlock, BRAC’s director of talent development, says in a prepared statement that the chamber is looking for ways to further develop the site and its goal of matching job seekers with jobs in the region. A majority of the site’s users so far are in Baton Rouge, although some are in other parts of the country, namely the Chicago and Dallas areas.

“We have over 10,800 jobs listed and over 7,900 skills added to users’ profiles, and we have seen the platform evolve and introduce upskilling opportunities,” Spurlock says. Area colleges have partnered with BR Works to feature their courses for the site’s new upskilling features.

BRAC began BR Works in a simplified form in 2020 in response to the jobs landscape in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. The site was then transformed in 2022 to a full-scale job board for Capital Region workers.
