BRAC Announces Melissa Bouligny Carter as SVP of Marketing

Baton Rouge, La. (September 22, 2022) – The Baton  Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) announced today that Melissa Bouligny Carter  has been hired to serve as the organization’s senior vice president of  marketing. Carter comes to BRAC from Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group,  where she served as the director of brand marketing from 2019 to 2022.

“We are thrilled to welcome Melissa to our team,” said Adam Knapp,  president & CEO of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber. “She brings 20-plus  years of marketing and branding experience to the organization with  both nationally and regionally recognized retail and restaurant brands.  We are confident her expertise will bring added energy to the five-year  strategic plan, especially in the areas of increasing national  perception of Baton Rouge and young professional talent attraction and  retention.”

As senior vice president of marketing, Carter will develop and  execute BRAC’s organizational messaging, manage regional advertising  across digital and traditional media in the Baton Rouge metro area, and  support BRAC’s internal and external marketing needs. Additionally,  Carter will support regional and state-level initiatives to create a  more competitive region for business growth and talent development,  particularly through the organization’s new regional jobs portal, BR  Works, large-scale talent marketing campaigns within and outside of the  region and promoting awareness of BRAC and BRING IT campaign initiatives  through public relations and advertising.

“I’m excited to join this dynamic team and am looking forward to  supporting BRAC’s five-year strategic campaign, BRING IT! Baton Rouge,”  said Bouligny Carter. “I was drawn to the strong mission at BRAC and  look forward to bringing the business community’s big ideas to  reality.”

A Spelman College graduate, Carter joins BRAC with a background in  brand development, strategic planning and team leadership. Prior to  joining BRAC, Carter worked at Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group, where she  served as Director of Brand Marketing. In her role, she oversaw all  aspects of the marketing strategy and implementation for restaurants  across six states, increasing brand awareness, supporting the restaurant  group’s expansion into new markets and facilitating relationships with  agency partners and vendors. Carter’s previous experience includes time  as the Regional Director of Marketing for the Southeast Region at  Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, and Marketing Project Manager for Gap  Inc. HQ’s Old Navy Division.
