Southern Lady Jaguars prepare for final SWAC bowling round-up in Huntsville

Southern University’s women’s bowling team will conclude the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) regular season at the SWAC Round-Up from February 6 to 8. The event will take place at Pin Palace Lanes in Huntsville, Alabama, and features eight teams: Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Florida A&M, Grambling, Jackson State, Prairie View, Southern, and Texas Southern.

The tournament format includes five traditional team games on both Friday and Saturday, followed by four more on Sunday.

In the first round-up of the season, Southern achieved an 8–6 record. The Lady Jaguars won four matches on Friday, secured one victory on Saturday, and added three wins on Sunday.

Maria Molina Diaz led the team with a 187.67 average over nine games (1,689 pins), ranking seventh overall in the conference. Alanna Jones and Mikayla Stephens were the only Southern players to participate in all 14 games; Jones averaged 175.9 (2,463 pins) while Stephens posted a 174.36 average (2,441 pins).

Currently sitting fourth in the standings as they pursue their fourth straight SWAC regular-season title, Southern trails Jackson State (12–2), with Alabama State and Texas Southern tied for second place at 9–5.
