The Southern University women’s basketball team will play against Bethune-Cookman on Thursday night in Daytona Beach, Florida. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Moore Gymnasium as part of Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play.

Southern aims to continue building momentum during the conference season and faces a Bethune-Cookman team known for strong performances at home. This early January matchup is important as both teams seek to improve their positions in the SWAC standings.

Throughout the season, the Jaguars have focused on balanced scoring and defensive pressure, with an emphasis on transition offense and forcing turnovers. Their strategy includes controlling the game’s pace and reducing second-chance opportunities for opponents. These factors will be crucial against a Bethune-Cookman squad that relies on energy and physicality when playing at home.

Bethune-Cookman looks to maintain its home-court advantage, while Southern seeks a key road victory in conference competition. According to the team, “Execution, rebounding, and perimeter defense are expected to be deciding factors.”

Tip-off is set for Thursday, January 8 at 6:00 p.m., inside Moore Gymnasium in Daytona Beach.
