The Southern University Jaguars women’s basketball team is set to play against the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in the semifinal round of the 2026 Southwestern Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament, with tip-off scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, March 13.

This matchup is significant as both teams are vying for a spot in the SWAC Championship game and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Jaguars enter the semifinals after advancing through the quarterfinals, relying on their defensive pressure and balanced scoring that have been key throughout their season.

Southern will focus on controlling the tempo early and using defensive intensity to disrupt Alabama A&M’s offense. Limiting turnovers and capitalizing on transition opportunities are expected to be critical strategies for Southern, which has excelled when turning defense into offense.

Alabama A&M has also shown strong performance in the tournament, particularly with its ability to attack the basket and create second-chance opportunities. The Bulldogs are likely to try slowing down the pace and establishing an inside presence against Southern’s defense.

The game will take place at Gateway Center Arena and will be broadcast on ESPN+. Fans can follow updates about Southern University Athletics through social media or by visiting www.gojagsports.com.

With both teams aware of what is at stake, Friday morning’s contest promises a competitive atmosphere as they battle for a place in the championship game.
