Southern University secured a 10-8 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on April 25, clinching the weekend baseball series and extending its winning streak to nine games.
The Jaguars established an early lead with three runs in the first inning and maintained control throughout the game. Despite a late comeback attempt by Arkansas-Pine Bluff, which included a four-run sixth inning and two more runs in the eighth, Southern responded each time to hold onto its advantage.
Key moments included an eighth-inning RBI triple from Jacoby Radcliffe that provided crucial insurance for Southern. The team’s bullpen also played a significant role, with Caleb Ellis pitching the final 1.2 innings without allowing any further runs.
Beny Bikar Jr. led Southern’s offense by going 4-for-4 with three RBIs, while Kenyon Hughes contributed two RBIs as well. Jaylon Lucky scored three times and reached base consistently at the top of the lineup.
With this win, Southern improved its season momentum and will aim for a series sweep in their next game scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
