LSU’s Ryleigh Knaub was named Southeastern Conference Freshman Golfer of the Week following two notable performances in recent tournaments, according to a March 18 announcement.
Knaub’s recognition comes after she finished fourth at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, where she posted three rounds of 70 for a total score of 210, three under par. The event, held in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, is known for featuring one of the most competitive fields in collegiate golf.
Prior to that, Knaub tied for tenth place at the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Florida. She recorded scores of 74, 71, and 72 for a total of one-over-par 217 in a field that included 89 players.
These tournaments marked Knaub’s first two top-10 finishes as a college golfer. She currently holds an average score of 72.47 during her debut season with LSU.
Knaub’s early achievements highlight her potential impact on the LSU women’s golf team as she continues her freshman year.
