No. 6 LSU secured a narrow 4-3 victory over Oklahoma on March 13 at the LSU Tennis Complex, with Andrej Loncarevic clinching the win for the Tigers in singles play.

The match was closely contested, reflecting the high level of competition between both teams. LSU improved its record to 18-2 overall and 5-1 in Southeastern Conference play, while Oklahoma dropped to 10-5 and 2-4 in conference matches.

Head Coach Danny Bryan said, “I really felt like it was a great college tennis match overall, with two really good teams going at it.” He praised his team’s performance in doubles and highlighted key contributions from Matias Ponce de Leon, Erik Arutiunian, Sasa Markovic, and Loncarevic. “I’m just really proud of the guys. Erik got off the court quickly, which really helped us… Then, obviously, Andrej [Loncarevic], I’m just so proud of him. He’s such a competitor. He’s a winner… he played very good tennis at the end to close it out,” Bryan said.

In doubles action, Enzo Kohlmann and Olaf Pieczkowski dominated their opponents on court three with a decisive 6-1 win. The duo remains undefeated on that court this season. On court two, Arutiunian and Ponce de Leon came back from an early deficit to win their match in a tiebreaker, securing the doubles point for LSU.

Singles matches saw strong performances from Arutiunian and Markovic for LSU as they each won their respective contests. Loncarevic’s straight-set victory over Orel Kimhi ultimately sealed the team win for LSU after several momentum shifts throughout the evening.

LSU will return to action at home against No. 11 Texas A&M on Sunday at noon Central Time before facing New Orleans later that afternoon.
