The Mayor’s Youth Workforce Experience (MYWE) is launching an eight-week paid summer internship program for high school students in Baton Rouge. The initiative aims to connect young people, referred to as Scholars, with mentors and provide opportunities for career exploration in a supportive environment.
According to program organizers, participants will have the chance to develop transferable skills, explore personal interests, and build social-emotional competencies. Upon completing the program, students will be certified as Work Ready Youth. “Scholars gain transferable skills, explore their interests, build social-emotional competencies, and develop work readiness. Upon completion, participants are certified as Work Ready Youth, equipped for success in both school and future careers,” according to a statement from the program.
