Mayor-President Sid Edwards announced on Apr. 27 that the City-Parish will hold its Spring 2026 Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day on Saturday, May 9.

The event aims to provide East Baton Rouge Parish residents with a safe way to dispose of household hazardous materials, helping prevent environmental harm and promoting community safety.

Residents are invited to bring their unwanted hazardous items to LSU Lot 406, located off Skip Bertman Drive, between 8 a.m. and noon. “Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day is an opportunity for residents to properly dispose of unwanted hazardous materials that may have accumulated in their homes,” said Mayor-President Edwards. He also said, “This event helps prevent harmful substances from entering the environment – providing a free, convenient, and accessible opportunity for residents to help us keep our environment and communities clean and safe for everyone.”

The collection day is open only to East Baton Rouge Parish residents, who must present valid identification at the site. Commercial waste will not be accepted at this event.

For more information about accepted materials or further details about the event, residents can visit brla.gov/recycle or contact the City-Parish Department of Environmental Services at (225) 389-4865.
