The Tigers, ranked sixth nationally, improved their season record to 18-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play. Texas A&M fell to 8-7 overall and 1-5 in the SEC.
LSU will next face the Florida Gators at home on Monday, January 26. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center and will be broadcast on SEC Network with Roy Philpott providing play-by-play commentary and Nell Fortner as analyst. Fans can also listen to the LSU Sports Radio Network with Patrick Wright and Shaeeta Williams calling the action.
Junior MiLaysia Fulwiley led LSU’s scoring effort with 23 points, adding one rebound, four assists, and five steals. She shot 8-of-13 from the field, including three three-pointers out of six attempts, and was perfect from the free throw line with four makes.
Freshman Grace Knox contributed 19 points on a flawless shooting night—she made all nine of her field goal attempts and added a free throw. Knox also recorded one rebound.
Senior Amiya Joyner posted her sixth double-double of the season—and the 47th of her collegiate career—with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists.
LSU matched its program record for free throws in a game by converting all 20 attempts against Texas A&M; this ties a mark set against Tennessee in February of 1988.
Sophomores Jada Richard (11 points) and Kate Koval (15 points) also reached double figures for LSU.
The first quarter saw LSU take an early lead after both teams started slowly on offense. The Tigers went ahead thanks to three consecutive three-pointers from Fulwiley following a timeout. By quarter’s end, LSU held a nine-point advantage at 21-12.
In the second quarter, LSU opened with an extended run that increased its lead to as much as eighteen before halftime. The Tigers’ defense limited Texas A&M to just one three-pointer during that stretch, leading to a halftime score of 41-22 in favor of LSU.
Fulwiley led all scorers at halftime with sixteen points while Richard contributed seven points along with four rebounds and two steals.
After maintaining control through much of the third quarter behind strong performances from Joyner (seven third-quarter points) and Knox (eleven), LSU ended the period up by thirty-seven after closing on a significant run. The Tigers ultimately finished with a forty-four point victory margin at 98-54.
