The LSU track and field team reported on Apr. 25 that it achieved six top-10 marks in the nation during its annual Alumni Gold meet held Saturday at Bernie Moore Track Stadium.

The results highlight strong performances across multiple event groups, with both men’s and women’s squads contributing to the team’s national rankings.

In the men’s 200-meter race, Jaiden Reid finished first in his heat with a season-best time of 20.31 seconds, placing him second in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for 2026. Jeremiah Walker followed closely behind with a personal-best of 20.40 seconds, ranking seventh nationally this season. Both athletes outpaced Olympian Stephen Gardiner in their heat.

On the women’s side, senior Ella Onojuvwevwo ran a personal-best of 22.56 seconds in the 200 meters to finish second overall and first among collegiate athletes. This performance moves her up to sixth nationally for that event; she also holds NCAA and world number one times for the women’s 400 meters this year.

Isaac Lewis set a personal record by winning the men’s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 49.51 seconds, now fourth fastest in the NCAA this season and sixth all-time at LSU after improving his previous best by two seconds.

In field events, sophomore Princesse Hyman won the women’s discus throw with a distance of 59.38 meters (194-9), while teammate Leah Acosta set a personal record at 58.81 meters (192-11), making her third on LSU’s all-time list and eighth nationally this season for discus throws among women’s competitors.

Chad Hendricks recorded his first college throw over sixty meters on the men’s side of discus competition, reaching exactly 60.30 meters (197-10) to become fifth all-time at LSU though just outside this year’s NCAA top ten.

Additional notable performances included wins from Matthew Sophia in men’s hurdles (13.42), Aniyah Bigam setting a new personal best in women’s sprints (11.18), Amal Glasgow winning men’s quarter-mile sprint with another career best (45.26), Mats Swanson recording his own best mark (46.73) in that event, Malachi Austin running his fastest ever men’s two-hundred meter dash (21.09), as well as victories by both women’s relay teams—the four-by-one hundred meter squad finishing first with a time ranked sixth nationally at forty-two point ninety-seven seconds, and four-by-four hundred meter relay closing out their race win at three minutes twenty-nine point eighty-nine seconds.

The meet demonstrated strong progress ahead of postseason competitions.
