The LSU Tigers men’s baseball team announced on April 27 their latest results, upcoming schedule, and key player updates. The team currently holds an overall record of 24-21, with a Southeastern Conference (SEC) record of 6-15.
This update matters to fans and followers tracking the team’s progress through the season, as well as those interested in individual player achievements and upcoming matchups.
Last week, LSU secured a win against New Orleans with a score of 10-7 but faced three consecutive losses at Mississippi State in games that ended 8-10 (11 innings), 8-9, and 8-13. The Tigers will play Southeastern Louisiana on April 28 before hosting South Carolina for a three-game series starting May 1.
Freshman catcher and designated hitter Omar Serna Jr. had a strong performance last week, batting .500 over four games with two doubles, three home runs, eight runs batted in (RBI), and seven runs scored. In the Mississippi State series alone, he hit .571. Freshman first baseman Mason Braun also contributed significantly by hitting .571 over four games and maintaining a .625 on-base percentage during the Mississippi State series.
Junior shortstop Steven Milam extended his reached-base safely streak to 22 games while also carrying an active hitting streak of eleven games. He has committed only one error this season across more than one hundred sixty chances. Sophomore left-hander Danny Lachenmayer delivered two relief appearances last week without allowing any hits or runs while striking out eight batters over just under four innings pitched.
Sophomore centerfielder Derek Curiel leads the team with a batting average of .337 and is among SEC leaders in base hits and triples. Overall, LSU collected twenty-four runs on thirty-two hits during their recent series against Mississippi State and has hit seventy-four home runs so far this season—ranking seventh among SEC teams.
