The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has released its January Division I Top 25 dual meet poll, placing the LSU women’s swimming and diving team at No. 13 and the men’s team at No. 18.
Both teams saw a drop in their rankings since the last poll in December. The women’s team moved down one spot from 12th to 13th, while the men’s team fell four spots from 14th to 18th following a recent loss against Florida in Gainesville.
The CSCAA poll is determined by a committee of Division I coaches who evaluate head-to-head dual meet results, performances since previous polls, season-long outcomes, dual meet records, roster changes, and data from the SwimCloud Simulator. The organization emphasizes that these rankings are not intended as predictions for championship meets.
Since the December poll, LSU has competed only once. Both teams experienced their first dual meet loss of the season during an away match at Florida. The men lost with a score of 105-156, and the women were defeated 87-174. Despite these losses, Michaela de Villiers and Jere Hribar won both the 50-free and 100-free events for LSU in sprints. The Tigers also secured victories in three out of four relay races.
In diving competitions at the Tennessee Diving Invitational held January 7–9, freshman Eve Nelson placed third on platform and fourth on the three-meter board for LSU’s women’s team. On the men’s side, Carson Paul finished fifth in three-meter diving while Travis Keith took sixth place on platform.
LSU will host SMU for its final home meet of the season on Saturday, January 24 at the LSU Natatorium starting at 10 a.m. CT. Senior Day celebrations are scheduled prior to competition at approximately 9:20 a.m., honoring all graduating seniors.
