LSU defeated McNeese 16-0 on April 28 at Tiger Park, recording its eighth shutout of the season and matching a season-high in runs. The victory marks LSU’s twelfth run-rule win this year and their tenth game with double-digit hits.

The Tigers (34-16) concluded the regular season undefeated against in-state opponents, finishing with a 7-0 record. LSU’s offense produced 14 hits, while the pitching staff combined for a one-hit shutout against McNeese (35-19).

Three pitchers contributed to the shutout. Cece Cellura earned her seventh win of the season after throwing three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out one batter. Cali Deal and Ashlin Mowery finished the final two innings, combining for two strikeouts and only two walks.

Twelve LSU players logged hits during the game, including all nine starters. Destiny Harris went two-for-three with two runs scored and a career-high three runs batted in. Char Lorenz was perfect at the plate with two hits, scoring once and driving in two more runs. Jalia Lassiter hit her eighth home run of the year—a two-run shot—and matched her season-best with three RBI.

Head Coach Beth Torina said, “It was nice to get everybody a little bit of work in a live game as we get closer to the postseason. It’s nice to see them perform well and be in some good spots. We continued to be aggressive. That’s what works well for this team. They attacked pitches and had a good plan for the pitchers. They made good adjustments and were aggressive at the plate.”

McNeese pitcher Brookelyn Taylor took her seventh loss after giving up four runs on two hits in less than an inning pitched.

LSU built an early lead by scoring four runs in the first inning followed by eight more in the second inning—highlighted by consecutive run-scoring hits from Harris and Lassiter’s home run.

Looking ahead, LSU will close out its regular season with a three-game series against Auburn from April 30 through May 2 at Tiger Park.
