The LSU softball team is ranked No. 20 in both the NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll and the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll, according to a March 24 announcement.
The rankings reflect LSU’s recent performance and improvement, highlighting their position among the top collegiate softball teams nationally. The Tigers also moved up five spots to No. 20 in the Softball America Poll and are now ranked No. 22 in the D1Softball Poll. Additionally, LSU holds an RPI ranking of No. 15 and boasts the eighth-strongest schedule in the country.
LSU secured its first Southeastern Conference series victory by defeating then-ranked South Carolina two games to one. During that series, LSU recorded a .218 batting average with half of their hits going for extra bases, including eight doubles. Ten out of twelve players who had an at-bat registered at least one hit during the series. The pitching staff posted a combined earned run average of 2.18 with sixteen strikeouts and four walks over nearly twenty-six innings pitched.
Following a midweek matchup against Louisiana Tech on Tuesday night, LSU will host Oklahoma—ranked as high as third nationally—for a three-game series from March 27 through March 29. This marks Oklahoma’s first visit since joining the Southeastern Conference, with two games scheduled for broadcast on SEC Network and ESPN.
