The LSU men’s 200-medley relay team earned All-American honors on Mar. 25 during the first day of the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for the squad, as they secured Honorable Mention All-American status with their performance. The relay group, consisting of Stepan Goncharov, Volodymyr Lisovets, Caleb Ellis, and Jere Hribar, finished tenth in their event with a time of 1:22.06. For Lisovets and Ellis, this race was also their debut at the NCAA Championships.
In other events, Jacob Pishko made his first appearance at the championships in the mile race during the morning session. The senior swimmer placed twenty-first with a time of 14:55.04. Nikola Simic followed closely behind in twenty-fourth place with a time of 15:01.22; both athletes competed only in this event for the week.
After day one of competition, LSU stands fifteenth overall with fourteen points heading into subsequent events. Thursday’s schedule includes preliminaries for several races—100-fly, 400-IM, 200-free, 100-breaststroke—as well as relays and diving competitions starting at 9 a.m., followed by finals beginning at 5 p.m., Central Time. LSU will have participants in all these events except for the 100-fly and 400-IM.
