The U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association announced on April 28 that the LSU men’s track and field team is now ranked No. 2 in the nation, while the women’s team remains at No. 4 in the fifth edition of the outdoor national ratings for the 2026 season.

These rankings reflect continued strong performances by both teams during this year’s outdoor season. The LSU program has a total of thirteen individuals and four relay teams currently holding top ten positions nationally across various events.

Among individual achievements, Ella Onojuvwevwo leads with a top ranking in the women’s 400 meters (49.59), while Jaiden Reid is third nationally in the men’s 200 meters (20.31) and eighth in the men’s 100 meters (10.01w). Other notable performances include Shawnti Jackson, fourth in women’s 200 meters (22.35), Isaac Lewis, fourth in men’s 400-meter hurdles (49.51), Jordan Turner, fourth in long jump (8.08m), Princesse Hyman, fourth and eighth respectively in discus throw with marks of 59.90m and 58.81m, Jack Larriviere, fourth in javelin throw (78.66m), Salieci Myles and Adeyah Brewster tied for fifth place with identical times of 12.92 seconds/wind-aided runs in women’s hurdles events.

LSU’s relay teams are also performing strongly: Glasgow, McKay, Buckmiller, Prince hold second place nationally for their time of three minutes one point forty-three seconds (3:01:43) in the men’s four-by-four hundred meter relay; Onojuvwevwo, Nuhu, Burks, Jackson are third among women with a time of three minutes twenty-three point ninety-four seconds; Hinckson, Williams, Bigam, Godbless are sixth nationally among women for their four-by-one hundred meter performance; Turner, Reid, McKay and Caleb rank seventh on that same event for men.

Over recent weeks’ rankings updates throughout March and April have seen both LSU squads maintain high placements: both were ranked first on March thirty-first before shifts saw them settle into their current standings as reported by USTFCCCA on April twenty-eighth.
