The LSU Beach Volleyball Team was ranked No. 13 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) week eight poll, which was released on April 15. This marks the team’s 108th consecutive appearance in the AVCA top-20 rankings.
The ranking comes after LSU finished a successful weekend at the Battle on the Bayou tournament in Baton Rouge, where they posted a 4-0 record. The team, also known as the Sandy Tigs, will travel to Clearwater Beach, Florida for the Gulf Front Invitational scheduled for April 17-18. During this event, LSU is set to compete against Mercer, University of South Florida (USF), Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), and Florida State.
In this week’s poll, UCLA holds the top spot with a record of 25-4 and thirteen first-place votes. Stanford follows closely at number two with ten first-place votes and a record of 30-3. Other teams rounding out the top five include USC at third place, Texas at fourth, and Florida State at fifth.
LSU currently has an overall season record of 17 wins and 13 losses. In last week’s poll, they were ranked eleventh but have since moved down two spots despite their recent victories.
Looking ahead, LSU will aim to improve its ranking during upcoming matches at the Gulf Front Invitational before the next AVCA poll is released on April 21.
