The LSU Beach Volleyball team lost both of its matches on March 27 at the Texas Invitational, falling to No. 2 Stanford and No. 1 UCLA.

The results put pressure on the Tigers as they prepare for two more matches to close out the weekend tournament. The team is scheduled to face No. 10 Long Beach at 10 a.m., followed by a match against No. 3 USC at 12:30 p.m.

Against Stanford, LSU suffered a 1-4 defeat. Zayna Meyer and Bella Lagemann were defeated in straight sets on Court 4, while Emily Hellmuth and Kate Baker lost in three sets on Court 5. Ryan Lambert and Aubrey O’Gorman fell on Court 3, which secured the match for Stanford. Skylar Martin and Tatum Finlason earned LSU’s only win of the day with a straight-set victory on Court 2, but Julia Sprecher and Kenzey McGatlin were defeated in two sets on Court 1.

In their second match of the day, LSU was swept by UCLA with a score of 0-5. Hellmuth and Baker lost in straight sets during the first wave of matches, as did Lambert and Meyer. Finlason and Martin dropped their contest in straight sets during the second wave, while Lagemann and O’Gorman pushed their opponents to three sets before ultimately losing on Court 3; Sprecher and McGatlin also fell after three sets.

The losses leave LSU looking for improvement as they continue competition over the weekend.
