LSU will face Creighton for the first time in baseball on March 10 at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field in Baton Rouge. The game is set for 6:30 p.m. Central Time and will be streamed live on SEC Network Plus.
This matchup marks a new chapter for both teams, as LSU, currently ranked No. 13 by Baseball America, D1 Baseball, and USA Today, has never played Creighton before. The Tigers have an 11-1 record against current Big East Conference members but have yet to meet the Blue Jays on the diamond.
LSU head coach Jay Johnson said, “We’re going to get everybody’s best shot, being LSU and being the defending national champions, but we have to respond to that. The only way to respond well is to play great baseball, and we did not do that last week. Up until last week, I felt like we handled it and managed it pretty well; we did not last week, and there’s a lot of improvement that needs to be made, and that’s all we can do, go back to work.”
The Tigers come into the game with a 12-5 record. Junior rightfielder Jake Brown recently tied the LSU single-game home run record with three homers in a win over Sacramento State. Brown leads the team with a .408 batting average this season. Sophomore pitcher Casan Evans recorded his first win of the year after pitching five perfect innings against Sacramento State. Other notable performances include sophomore centerfielder Derek Curiel hitting .333 this season and left-hander Ethan Plog lowering his ERA to 1.50 after two strong relief outings.
Creighton enters with a 5-7 record after winning two out of three games against Gonzaga last weekend in Omaha. Head coach Mark Kingston is in his second season leading the Blue Jays after previously coaching at South Carolina and serving as Creighton’s associate head coach in 2025. Last year, Creighton finished with a 43-16 record and won the Big East Conference Tournament title.
The upcoming game offers both teams an opportunity to test their strengths early in the season as they prepare for conference play.
