Jag Mobile, Ochsner offering free breast cancer screenings through November

0Comments

The Jag Mobile, a mobile health unit created in partnership between  Ochsner Baton Rouge and Southern University, will visit numerous Baton  Rouge-area neighborhoods this fall providing breast cancer screenings.  The screenings, which take place from September through November, are  provided free of charge, thanks to funding from the American Cancer  Society. The first stop was at the St. Gabriel Senior Center in  St. Gabriel

No pre-scheduling or pre-registration is required, regardless of insurance status, and the screenings are open to the public.

“These free screenings are made possible through a collaboration of  several groups – Ochsner Health, Southern University and the American  Cancer Society, along with our community partners that will host these  events,” says AnnaBeth Guillory, Vice President of Cancer Services.  “This further illustrates Ochsner’s commitment to improving access to  vital healthcare services within the communities where they’re needed  most, aligning with its Healthy State initiative, Ochsner’s campaign to  improve the health of all Louisiana residents by 2030.”

The Jag Mobile was created to increase access to healthcare in  underserved areas. The mobile unit primarily serves communities within a  50-mile radius of the Southern University campus.
