Garret Graves, a U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 6th district since 2015, recently took to social media to discuss the impact of the Social Security Fairness Act on law enforcement and public servants in Louisiana. Graves has been serving in Congress after replacing Bill Cassidy and previously served in the Louisiana House of Representatives.

On June 3, 2025, Graves tweeted about his participation in National Police Week celebrations with Troopers Hackney “Hack” Willis, President of the Louisiana State Troopers Association, and Jay O’Quinn, Executive Director. He noted their discussions on the “profound impact of the #SocialSecurityFairnessAct on Louisiana and US law enforcement.”

In another tweet posted shortly after, Graves emphasized that “To say Louisiana needed this, well… it no longer needs to be said.” He provided a link for further information on other states affected by similar legislation here.

Graves also highlighted the financial benefits brought by the Social Security Fairness Act in a subsequent tweet. He stated that “The #SocialSecurityFairnessAct has resulted in $592,048,147.09 in increased payments just to 74,750 Louisiana police, firefighters, teachers and public servants alone – the 5th most in the USA.

Garret Graves was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1972 and continues to reside there at age 51.
