Garret Graves, U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 6th district since 2015, marked the 90th anniversary of Social Security and highlighted the recent impacts of the Social Security Fairness Act (SSFA) in a series of posts on August 14, 2025.

In his first post, Graves acknowledged both milestones: “Happy 90th birthday , Social Security. Happy 7 months, 1 week and 2 days anniversary of the #SocialSecurityFairnessAct” (August 14, 2025).

He then reported on the financial benefits delivered by the SSFA to public employees in his state: “SSFA has resulted in $669,190,896.44 in back payments to Louisiana public servants alone… so far! You earned it!” (August 14, 2025).

In a follow-up message posted moments later, Graves added: “You might say that the impact is worth a Super Bowl to LA public servants – all over the state.” (August 14, 2025).

Graves succeeded Bill Cassidy as representative for Louisiana’s 6th district and previously served in the Louisiana House of Representatives. Born in Baton Rouge in 1972, he continues to reside there while serving his congressional term.
